8th Grade Computers

8th Grade Computer students started out the year working with Microsoft Office's Word application.  We completed many different projects in a book called Office Specialist.

• Address Labels
• Report in MLA Style

There are days that we dedicate to improving our keyboarding skills - we work on those skills at typing.com  That is a free online keyboarding program that students can work on lessons anywhere - anytime!

Currently we are working with Google Docs and seeing all of the advantages to creating and saving documents online.

Sophomore Computer Applications

Students' sophomore year is spent working with the Office Applications.  We have started the year in Word and just completed our last lesson - "Inserting Tables in Word". 

Next we will be moving on to PowerPoint.  Throughout the fall we will also be getting a brief introduction to Google Apps.  We will complete some projects and talk about the pros and cons of using an online document creator.


We will finish up the semester by working with Excel and Access.

Tests are usually given on Fridays - all tests being open book/open computer.  Quotations that are posted in the room are often included in test material. 

Advanced Computers

Advanced Computer class is a chance to review important skills learned in our basic Office applications as well as try out new programs/applications in preparation for years after high school. 

During the year we will also work with web page development, Google applications, and photo editing (to name a few.)

Part of the work that we complete in class benefits Groton Area students.  We create documents, powerpoints, webpages, online tests, and other resources for teachers to use.  It is a great way to put our knowledge to use!
